December Daily Journaling

Is it December 1st already?! Wow, time really flies when you’re having fun.  I love all the activities and excitement surrounding the month of December.  I’m taking Tiffany Tillman’s 25 Days of Templates class and I’ll use that as a starting point for my documentation. Over at the Digital Design Shop I have a Chanukah word art  freebie available as part of Cilenia’s 12 Days of December. I’m also looking forward to participating in Reverb10.

List of activities I want to try to cover for the month of December...
Watch the local high school choir Christmas concert
Have lunch with my girlfriends before Christmas break
Shop with my mom since she just retired
Go to the movies with my sons
Get an updated picture of the boys together
Get an updated family picture
Christmas movies to watch: Elf, It’s a Wonderful Life, The Man Who Knew Too Little (not Christmas but a tradition for us)
Buy at least one new Christmas CD
Compile the family newsletter
Play, enjoy my family, be creative.

Here's a picture of me at a local tea room taken yesterday with my aunts, great aunt and cousin. It was a perfect start for the Christmas season.

See you tomorrow,
Marcie

ABC Follow Along With Me: A = Aunt

This is the first layout in my ABC Follow Along with Me book. Cilenia, at the Digital Designer Shop, has created templates, monograms, papers, elements and whatever else you need to create your very own ABC book. My letters will focus on people and family relationships. I love this method of scrapbooking that allows me to pull in pictures from different times and locations to share a memory. For the letter "A" I am going to focus on my aunts. I didn't realize how many I had until I started sorting pictures for this layout. There is one picture in the layout that is a composite of several pictures that I merged in Photoshop--can you tell which one it is?

See you next time with a layout for the letter B.

Marcie

Blog update

After 3 years of paying for a typepad blog account I am now going to move exclusively to this blog. I love the ease and convenience of blog-spot and it's free!! Over the next few days I may add some of my previous post from the typepad account but I'll be sure to mark them as such.

See ya,
Marcie

FOR TODAY
January 11, 2010

Outside my window... I see dead brown grass and plants due to freezing temperatures for the past week.
I am thinking... of all the things I need to do before I leave for my cruise to the Bahama's in 2 weeks.
I am thankful for... warm socks and hot coffee.
From the kitchen... I'm loving a bowl full of fresh tangerines from my mom's tangerine tree.
I am wearing... black pants and a red shirt.
I am creating... the first of 52 weekly layouts for my year long photography project.
I am going... to 1) work on laundry, 2) organize my digi supplies in ACDSee, 3) spend 15 minutes decluttering.
I am reading...   just started Same Different As Me.
I am hearing... Zach and Josh talking and watching TV in the family room.
Around the house... I have all the ornaments off the tree and I need the guys to pack it away.
One of my favorite things... this coffee recipe I found on Pioneer Woman's website. She calls it "Dulce de Leche Coffee" but I call it "Heaven in a Cup". LOL
A few plans for the rest of the week: Continue to get caught up around the house since the boys will be back in school, work on Wednesday, and a TB Lightning Hockey game on Thursday night.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing... we are on our ninth consecutive day of temperatures below 60 degrees. The next similar cold spell was seven days in 1956! This picture is my mom's tangerine tree. The trees are misted when the temperatures fall below freezing to keep them from falling below 32 degrees. It was 1 pm when I took the picture and there was still ice in the tree - absolutely amazing for Florida!

FOR TODAY 1.23.10
Outside my window... I see lots of dead brown plants from the freeze earlier this month.

I am thinking... about all the things I need to do before I leave for my cruise on Monday.

I am thankful for... my eyesight. Even though I need glasses to read my eyes are healthy.

From the kitchen... I smell the brownies I baked for the boys. Gotta leave them something to eat while I'm gone. LOL

I am wearing... brown linen pants with a blue t-shirt and my new Merrel sandals.

I am creating... a layout of my Facebook wall with all my birthday greetings.

I am going... nowhere and I love it. :-)

I am reading... the first 2 lessons from Katrina Kennedy's Captured Through the Lens class.

I am hoping... for a fun vacation with my friends next week.

I am hearing... the music from Gabe's room.

On my mind... I'm thinking about all the pictures I want to take on my trip.

Pondering these words... He who began a good work in you is faithful to complete it.

Around the house... YIKES!! The Christmas tree is still up!! I've taken the decorations off but the guys have not put the tree away yet. Tomorrow is the day!

One of my favorite things... coffee, always coffee.

A few plans for the rest of the week: get packed and then have fun!

Here is picture for thought I am sharing... I'm going to miss this little guy next week.

Kelby Photowalk 2010 Locations Announced.

The Kelby 2010 Photowalk date is set for July 24, 2010 and the locations are filling up fast. I participated in the in Lakeland, Florida walk last year and while I enjoyed it I think it would be a lot more fun to go with a friend. I'm still debating which location to walk this year but it's a hard choice because there are so many great locations.

Here's a layout I made with some pictures from my 2009 Photowalk.

Oklahoma Tree

Here's a layout using Cilenia's new Coreopsis Combo kit. The pictures aren't that great but the memories are precious so even if a professional photographer wouldn't keep these - to me they are a treasure.

A layout for the weekly challenge on Jessica Sprague's site

I've been so busy organizing and tagging my scrapbooking supplies that I haven't made an actual layout in a couple of months. Here's one I made for the weekly challenge at the Spraground. The challenge was to make a layout about your favorite thing and include stitching, at least one flower and scallops. I used Cilenia's new kits Dream Big Sets 1 & 2. I love the colors in the kit but I was really blown away by the beautiful texture of the papers. Very nice - looks like you could almost feel the texture.

I chose my Clark sandals as my subject - love those shoes. I'm looking for a new pair now so that I have a backup.

I used papers from Cilenia's Dream Big Set 1 and Dream Big Set 2 available at  http://www.digitaldesignershop.com/shop/
